Synopsis: Public Safety received a report from a Swarthmore Alumna about the theft of items from Parrish Parlors. The value is $750. Matter is under investigation.

Synopsis: The Alumni Office reported a student was impersonating an Alumni Weekend worker and possibly stole items. Value of items is unknown at this time. Matter under investigation.

Location: Trotter Hall – Outdoor Tent
Synopsis: The Alumni Office reported the theft of a beer tap and bottles of alcohol from the Alumni Weekend tent outside of Trotter. The beer tap was recovered. The value of alcohol unknown at this time. Matter under investigation.

Synopsis: Public Safety received the report of an unidentified male inside Alice Paul Residence Hall by EVS staff. Public Safety responded. Search of the building did not reveal the subject.

Synopsis: Public Safety received information from Swarthmore Police relative to recent incidents that have occurred within the Borough of Swarthmore for awareness purposes.

Location: 117 S. Chester Road (across from PPR)
Synopsis: Public Safety assisted Swarthmore Police Department on Chester Road with a disoriented subject. Individual was arrested by Swarthmore Police for drug paraphernalia.

Location: On or possibly off campus
Synopsis: Student reported her wallet missing. Student is not sure where, possibly on the bus or on campus. She last remembers having her wallet around 6:00 p.m. June 11. Item added to property database. Student was encouraged to contact Swarthmore Police as well.

Fire Alarm

Date: Wednesday, June 12
Time: 10:47 p.m.
Location: Trotter Hall, Attic RF-1/M1-45, Duct Detector Fire Alarm
Synopsis: Simplex reported fire alarm at Trotter Hall attic area. PSO Ellis, PSO Green and Maintenance staff responded. Maintenance confirmed a false alarm for the detector. All units clear.

Synopsis: A staff member reported receiving a suspicious letter in the mail. The staff member has notified Swarthmore Police for assistance. This matter is under investigation.

Time: 4:57 p.m.
Location: Mertz Residence Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a fire alarm within Mertz Residence Hall. The area was checked and no smoke or fire were observed. The alarm was reset.

Synopsis: A staff member reported receiving an anonymous letter from an unknown individual in reference to a student concern. Matter under investigation.

Fire Alarm

Time: 10:54 p.m.
Location: Sharples Dining Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety Officers responded to Sharples Dining Hall to investigate a fire alarm-beam detector activation. Officers determined that a balloon was the cause for the alarm and they were able to reset the system without incident.

Synopsis: While on routine patrol a Public Safety Officer reported observing an unknown male crouching in between cars. The individual was interviewed and left the area without incident.

Date: Thursday, June 13
Time: 10:37 a.m.
Location: Science Center, Stairwell Near Eldridge Commons
Synopsis: Student worker in the Science Center reported a liquid nitrogen leak from tank. Public Safety and Facilities responded. The safety valve on the bottle had become disengaged, but was set again. Student worker advised to always have someone with him when working with any dangerous chemical.

Time: 9:59 a.m.
Location: Women’s Resource Center Roof
Synopsis: Structure fire at Women’s Resource Center on Sharples Drive. Heavy fire showing through roof of structure. All Public Safety and Facilities units responded. Swarthmore Fire Department and several other agencies responded.
Status: Closed

 

Burglary/Unlawful Entry No Force

Date: Friday, June 14
Time: 10:03 p.m.
Location: Mary Lyons 4
Synopsis: A male resident student reported a laptop stolen from his residence. The value of the laptop is approximately $2400. Matter under investigation. Status Update: Saturday, June 15 – Owner found the laptop in his room in a different location.

Synopsis: Two juveniles were cited by Swarthmore Police for Under Age Drinking.

Location: Crum Meadow
Synopsis: While on patrol, Public Safety observed individuals in the Crum Meadow at an unauthorized bonfire. The individuals were identified and left without incident.

Synopsis: Public Safety reports a disoriented female at Chester Rd. and Yale Rd. Swarthmore Police Department arrived and will be escorting female to her residence.

Fire Alarm

Date: Sunday, June 16
Time: 6:33 p.m.
Location: Bond Memorial-Academic
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a fire alarm within Bond Hall. It was set off by students cooking. There was no sign of smoke or fire. Exhaust fan was turned on and alarm was reset.

Synopsis: While on patrol, Public Safety observed an individual asleep on a couch in Parrish Hall. Upon identifying the individual it was determined that the individual does not belong on campus. Public Safety escorted the individual off campus.

Location: Crum Meadow, Holly Collection at Harvard Ave.
Synopsis: While on patrol, Public Safety observed a group of individuals at the Holly Collection. Public Safety was able to identify one individual who was cited by Swarthmore Police Department for Under Age Drinking.
Status: Cleared/Arrest
