Terroristic Threat

Date: Saturday, April 4 2013 – Sunday, May 5 2013

Time: 10:34 p.m

Location: Benjamin West House

Synopsis: A staff member reported that a male resident student wished to report concerning behavior of another male resident. This behavior was threatening in nature towards a female resident student.

Status: Investigation

 

Harassment/Stalking

Date: Thursday, April 25 – Friday, April 26

Time: 2:00 a.m

Location: Olde Club – Sharples

Synopsis: A female resident student reported while attending an on campus party she felt harassed by an unknown male student resident. Matter under investigation.

Status: Investigation

 

Disturbance

Date: Tuesday, May 7

Time: 12:49 a.m

Location: Alice Paul Residence Hall

Synopsis: Public Safety received a report of a disturbance within Alice Paul Residence Hall. The disturbance was due to an unauthorized party within the area. Individuals were gone upon arrival.

Status: Inactive

Date: Tuesday, May 7

Time: 1:11 a.m

Location: Clothier Hall

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a disturbance at Clothier Hall Bell Tower. Upon arrival, Public Safety identified the group. They disbursed without incident.

Burglary

Date: Monday, May 6 – Tuesday, May 7

Time: 4:30 a.m

Location: Science Center, Chemistry Wing

Synopsis: The Department of Public Safety received a report from a male resident student that his wallet was stolen from the Science Center. The value is unknown at this time. Matter under investigation.

Theft

Date: Tuesday, May 7

Time: 11:13 a.m

Location: Swarthmore College Campus

Synopsis: Public Safety received a report from a female resident student about the theft of laptop. The value of the laptop is $700. Matter under investigation.

Status: Investigation

 

Safety Hazard

Date: Tuesday, May 7

Time: 12:40 p.m

Location: Fielhouse Lane

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the report from a staff member bout a traffic safety issue by the South entrance. Truck was gone upon the officer’s arrival. Units clear.

Status: Cleared

 

Medical Emergency

Date: Tuesday May 7

Time: 12:00 a.m

Location: Elm Avenue

Synopsis: Public Safety transported a male resident to Worth Health Center. Upon evaluation, the student was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

Status: Cleared

 

Sexual Assault

Date: Friday, May 11

Time: 11:59 p.m

Location: Swarthmore College Campus

Synopsis: A staff member reported that a female resident student reported being involved in incidents of sexual assault and abuse by a known male resident student.

Status: Title IX-Referral

 

Community Concern

Date: Wednesday, May 8

Time: 8:25 p.m

Location: Pearson Hall

Synopsis: A student reported to Public Safety information regarding the incident at the IC over the weekend. Matter under investigation

Suspicious Odor

Date: Wednesday, May 8

Time: 12:02 a.m

Location: Martin Biological Lab

Synopsis: Public Safety and Facilities responded to Martin Biological Lab for the report from a faculty member of a suspicious odor. The source of the odor could not be identified and the room was checked numerous times throughout the night. Matter under investigation.

Date: Wednesday May 8

Time: 9:35 a.m

Location: College Avenue

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the report of a staff member about an unknown individual attempting to get into their vehicle. Upon arrival, the individual was identified as a resident female student. Matter under investigation.

Fire Alarm

Date: Wednesday, May 8

Time: 10:48 p.m

Location: Mertz Residence Hall

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a fire alarm within Mertz Residence Hall. The alarm was due to cooking there was no smoke or fire. The alarm was reset.

Status: Cleared

 

Fire Alarm

Date: Thursday, May 10

Time: 11:49 a.m

Location: Worth Residence Hall

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a fire alarm within Worth Residence Hall. The cause of the alarm was the steam from the shower. Alarm was reset.

Status: Cleared

 

Harassment/Stalking

Date: Friday, May 10

Time: 12:00 a.m

Location: Swarthmore College Campus

Synopsis: Female resident student reported to a staff member that she was being harassed by a known male resident student. The students were advised to have no contact. This matter is under investigation.

Sexual Assault

Date: Thursday, September 1 2011 – Friday, September 30 2011

Time: 11:59 p.m

Location: College Avenye

Synopsis: A staff member reported via anonymous reporting online form and by phone call that a male resident student was sexually assaulted within a residence hall (location unknown) by an individual (name unknown) during the fall 2011 academic year. No additional information was supplied about the time, location, or witnesses for the incident

Status: Investigation

Date: Friday May 10

Time: 4:41 p.m

Location: Clothier Hall

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the report from a female resident student about a suspicious individual on campus. Upon arrival, the individual was identified and asked to leave campus. The individual left without incident.

Status: Cleared

 

Disturbance

Date: Friday, May 10

Time: 8:15 p.m

Location: Mullan Fitness Center

Synopsis: Public Safety received a report of the unauthorized use of the track at Clothier Field by three individuals. Public Safety responded and matter is under investigation.

Investigation Vehicle

Date: Saturday, May 11

 

Time: 8:13

Location: Whittier Place

Synopsis: Public Safety observed a suspicious occupied vehicle driving around the north entrance. The vehicle was a blue Honda compact with PA plates. When Public Safety Officers approached the vehicle it sped off. Information on file for future reference.

Synopsis: The Communications Center received a phone call from an individual regarding a note left on their car. Matter under investigation.

Fire Alarm

Date: Saturday, May 11

Time: 9:55 p.m

Location: Worth Residence Hall

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a fire alarm within Worth Residence Hall. Alarm was activated by cooking, smoke was observed but no flame was present. Alarm was reset without incident.

Date: Sunday, May 12

Time: 2:30 p.m

Location: Worth Residence Hall

Synopsis: Pubic Safety responded to the report of a fire alarm and upon arrival could hear the audible alarm. Further investigation discovered a discharged fire extinguisher. There was no sign of smoke or fire. The alarm was reset and Public Safety cleared. Matter under investigation.

Synopsis: Neighbor at Harvard Ave reports they saw someone with a flashlight inside another residence. Public Safety responded and upon arrival found Swarthmore Police Department checking the residence.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a student who felt threatened by another student in Clothier Snack Bar. Matter under investigation.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a report from an RA that there was a resident female student in Mary Lyons 4 that appeared to be in need of assistance. Information relayed to the appropriate office.

Harassment by Communication

Date: Sunday, May 12

Time: 9:45 p.m

Location: Dana Residence Hall

Synopsis: Information received from a female resident student in reference to troubling comments posted on a facebook page by another resident student. Investigation determined that the posts were not threatening or violent in nature. This matter will be forwarded to the deans.

Status: Dean’s referral
