Editor’s note: This article was initially published in The Daily Gazette, Swarthmore’s online, daily newspaper founded in Fall 1996. As of Fall 2018, the DG has merged with The Phoenix. See the about page to read more about the DG.
The Daily Gazette, Swarthmore’s only online daily newspaper, is sent out every weekday to several thousand readers in the Swarthmore community, including many faculty, staff, alumni, and parents. The Gazette’s unique online set-up allows the paper to explore cutting-edge multimedia approaches to reporting. It also provides a highly visible platform for student voices through the Opinion section and comments.
Open positions on the staff include reporters, columnists/bloggers, photographers, videographers, and podcasters. Paid positions (stipend) include Sports Editor, section Assistant Editors (News, Arts/Features, Opinions, Multimedia, and Sports), web technicians and ad sales reps. Editors have opportunities to travel to conferences hosted by other universities or journalism organizations, or to large events such as SXSW.
If you are interested in a career in journalism, consider joining The Daily Gazette family. Past staff have been Fulbright Scholars, freelance writers for The New York Times and Slate magazine, interns at NPR, WHYY, The Wall Street Journal, and more. Other staff members involved with the website have gone on to careers in Silicon Valley.
For info, send an email to editors@daily.swarthmore.edu, or attend one of our weekly staff meetings on Sundays from 4-5 p.m. in Kohlberg 226.

Andrew Karas, Please don’t just post emails in plaintext on a public internet page. You’ll attract spammers to those addresses.
DG editors, could you do something about this?
Wow, hadn’t thought of that. Thanks Alex. I’ll eliminate the emails from those posts.
Please just post your name if you are interested in working for The DG.
