The Swatter (Swat + Blotter) is the newest addition to The Daily Gazette. Like a police blotter, we receive a log of all crimes, suspicious incidents, and other events that were reported to Public Safety during the week. We will publish these every week starting now.

 

Sexual Harassment Reported

Date: Monday, September 10
Time: 2:46 p.m.
Location: Parrish Hall
Synopsis: A non-student female reported she was sexually assaulted by a male resident student during the month of April 2010 within a residence hall on campus.
Status: Inactive

 

Harassing Communication

Date: Monday, September 10
Time: 5:00 p.m.
Location: Bryn Mawr
Synopsis: A Bryn Mawr female resident student reported a Swarthmore male resident student sent her a harassing text message.
Status: Dean’s Referral

 

Fire Alarm

Date: Monday, September 10
Time: 11:10 p.m.
Location: David Kemp Residence Hall, 2nd Floor Kitchen
Synopsis: A fire alarm was activated from within David Kemp Hall, second floor kitchen area. The cause of the alarm was from cooking. No sign of fire. Public Safety responded and reset the alarm.

Suspicious Person(s)

Date: Tuesday, September 11
Time: 11:25 p.m.
Location: Mary Lyons
Synopsis: A shuttle driver reported an unknown male was sitting in the dark under a tree next to Mary Lyons residence hall. Public Safety responded and identified the male as a resident of Mary Lyons.
Status: Closed

 

Harassing Communication

Date: Wednesday, September 12, 2012
Time: 11:19 a.m.
Location: Pearson Hall
Synopsis: A staff member reported receiving a harassing email from an unknown individual. Information on file for future reference.
Status: Inactive

 

Rape Report

Date: Wednesday, September 12
Time: 12:04 p.m.
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: A female student reported to a staff member that a friend was sexually assaulted. Per the student reporting the incident, the individuals are known to one another. There is no additional information concerning the date, time, location or incident information at this time.
Status: Inactive

 

Simple Assault/Non Aggravated

Date: Thursday, September 13
Time: 5:56 a.m.
Location: Off Campus/Philadelphia
Synopsis: A male resident student reported being assaulted while in Philadelphia with a friend. There is no additional information about suspects at this time.

Theft

Date: Friday, September 14
Time: 1:46 p.m.
Location: McCabe Library, Main Level
Synopsis: A female resident student reported the theft of a laptop from within McCabe Library. The value of the laptop is approximately $2000.
Status: Investigation

 

Fire Alarm

Date: Sunday, September 16
Time: 12:01 a.m.
Location: Lang Center
Synopsis: A fire alarm was activated within the New Lang Center. There were no signs of fire or smoke. Public Safety responded and reset the alarm.
Status: Closed

 

Suspicious Condition

Date: Sunday, September 16
Time: 12:31 a.m.
Location: Outside Fraternity Area
Synopsis: A female resident student was observed within a dark grassy area along Sharples drive with a male resident student. The students were identified and both students returned to their residence.
Status: Closed

 

Fire Alarm

Date: Sunday, September 16
Time: 2:49 a.m.
Location: Willets
Synopsis: A fire alarm was activated within the third floor of Willets. The cause of the alarm was burnt food. Public Safety Officers responded and reset the fire alarm.
Status: Closed
