Women’s Soccer:

Swarthmore: 1, Dickinson College: 2

For the Centennial Conference Championship semifinal, Swarthmore women’s soccer traveled to Carlisle, PA, on Saturday, Nov. 4, to face Dickinson College. The Garnet had a strong start, getting five shots in the first half and a brilliant goal off of a freekick in the 17th minute. Swarthmore held onto the lead for the rest of the half, but in the 73rd minute, the Red Devils found an equalizer. Neither team could find a second goal in regulation time, and the game went into overtime. Dickinson was able to sneak in a goal during the first ten-minute overtime period. The Garnet had some close chances for their second goal but were ultimately unsuccessful. 

Notable Players: Alice Onyango-Opiyo ’23 scored the Garnet’s sole goal of the match.

Women’s Swimming:

D3 Shootout at University of Chicago 

On Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5, Swarthmore traveled to the University of Chicago to compete against nationally-ranked Pomona-Pitzer, Hope College, University of Chicago, and Trinity University. The Garnet finished fifth overall but set program records and met NCAA B-cut standards. 

Notable Players: Quinn Weygandt ’26 set a 400-meter IM conference and program record with a time of 4:29.19 and finished in fourth place at the top final. Ashley Wong ’24, Gaby Ma ’23, Annaliese Chen ’25, and Erin Szuromi ’25 met NCAA B-cut standard with a time of 3:51.37 in the 400-meter medley relay and broke the program record. Wong placed second overall in the 100-meter butterfly, and Chen placed second overall in the 200-meter butterfly.

Men’s Swimming:

D3 Shootout at University of Chicago 

Swarthmore traveled to the University of Chicago on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5, to compete against four nationally-ranked programs. Swarthmore finished sixth overall and had a third place finish in a relay. Many individual swimmers placed fourth, fifth, and sixth place overall.

Notable Players: Cami Wilson ’26 set program top-10 records in the 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter backstroke, and 100-meter butterfly. Wilson, Ben Wesley ’24, Dylan Ling ’26, and Ethan Marotte ’24 finished in third for the 200-meter freestyle relay. Ling ’26 also earned fourth in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 1:55.72.

Men’s Basketball:

Swarthmore: 71, Rowan University: 70

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, Swarthmore traveled to Rowan University for their first game of the season. The Garnet had a strong start and led by ten points at the half, 39-29. Swarthmore held onto the lead by one point at the final buzzer, securing their first win of the season. The Garnet shot 40% overall and 76% from the free-throw line.

Notable Players: George Visconti ’23 scored the night’s team-high of 23 points, and Colin Shaw ’23 scored twenty points.

Volleyball:

Swarthmore: 1, Franklin and Marshall College: 3

On Saturday, Nov. 4, Swarthmore played Franklin & Marshall College in the Centennial Conference semifinals. The Garnet lost the first two sets, 25-13 and 25-17, but were able to comeback for a win in the third set, sending the game to a fourth. Franklin & Marshall led early in the fourth set, and though the Swarthmore almost closed the gap, they fell to the Diplomats with a final score of 3-1.

Notable Players: offensively, Dani Pena ’24 had 29 assists, and Kaylee Zhang ’24 had 15 kills. Defensively, Zindzhi Montgomery ’26 had four blocks, and Zhang had 14 digs.
