Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the Science Center for the report of a theft of a masterlock from a cabinet. The value of the lock is $5. The matter is under investigation.

Smoke Detector Alarm
Date: Tuesday, July 22
Time: 4:52 p.m.
Location: Walnut Lane
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a college owned residence on Walnut Lane for the report of a smoke detector alarm. Upon arrival, it was determined that the cause of the alarm was that new batteries were needed in two smoke detectors. New batteries will be installed by the resident.

Synopsis: Swarthmore Police requested assistance in gaining access to Crum Meadow an locating a female subject. Public Safety assisted and the individual was located. The matter was handled by Swarthmore Police.

Synopsis: ITS reported multiple thefts over a period of several months of computer equipment. The value of the equipment is $15,000. The matter is under investigation.

Dorm Room Smoke Detector Alarm

Location: Wharton Residence Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety received a report of a smoke alarm sounding in Wharton Hall. Upon arrival, the area was checked and there was no sign of smoke or fire.

Synopsis: Public Safety received a report of four subjects taking a table from the back of Wharton Hall. Public Safety and Swarthmore Police responded. The subjects were identified as non Swarthmore students and were charged by the Swarthmore police.

Location: Wharton Residence Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the exterior of Wharton Residence Hall for the report of a single vehicle accident involving a Swarthmore staff member. There were no injuries.

Public Drunkenness

Location: Science Center
Synopsis: While on a patrol, Public Safety encountered an intoxicated person at the Science Center Circle. The individual was not affiliated with the college. Swarthmore Police responded and the individual was arrested.

Synopsis: Public Safety received a report of a smoke alarm sounding in the basement of Wharton Residence Hall. Upon arrival, there was no sign of smoke or fire. It was determined that the alarm was activated due to dust.

Synopsis: Public Safety received a fire alarm from within Sproul Observatory. Upon arrival, there was no sign of smoke or fire. There is a mechanical issue with the alarm and Facilities was notified.

Synopsis: Public Safety received a fire alarm from within Cornell Library Addition mechanical room. Upon arrival, there was no sign of smoke or fire, but there was steam due to a mechanical problem with the steam release valve. Facilities was notified.

Location: Sharples Drive
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Sharples Drive for the report of vandalism. Upon arrival, officers observed two construction vehicles that had been spray painted. The matter is under investigation.

Vehicle Accident
Date: Wednesday, August 13
Time: 3:41 p.m.
Location: Fieldhouse Lane
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the report of a delivery truck that pulled down electrical wires and subsequently two poles on Fieldhouse Lane. Facilities/Maintenance, Swarthmore Police Department, and Swarthmore Fire Department responded. Power to wires was shut off and then the wires were removed from the roadway. No injuries reported.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to several fire alarms from within 505 Fieldhouse Lane. There was no smoke or fire. It was determined that the cause of the alarms was due to down power lines from a prior incident. Facilities was notified.

Synopsis: Public Safety, Swarthmore Police and Grounds responded to Cedar Lane, between Elm Avenue and the walkway that is located behind the Courtney Smith House, for the report of a strong unknown odor. Upon arrival, the area was checked extensively with negative results.
