Location: Delta Upsilon Fraternity House
Synopsis: Public Safety received a report from a Swarthmore student about the theft of their phone, sweatshirt, and keys from within Delta Upsilon Fraternity House. The value of the items are $150. The matter is under investigation.

Vehicle Accident

Date: Monday, April 21
Time: 3:43 p.m.
Location: Fieldhouse Lane
Synopsis: While on patrol, Public Safety observed a vehicle accident involving two Swarthmore staff members. There were no injuries.

Medical Emergency

Date: Monday, April 21
Time: 2:32 p.m.
Location: Lang Music Building
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Lang Music Building for the report of a resident student in need of medical assistance and observed to be unconscious. After evaluation, the student was transported to Worth Health Center.
Status: Closed

 

Vehicle Accident

Date: Tuesday, April 22
Time: 11:44 a.m.
Location: Water Tower Lot
Synopsis: Public Safety received the report of an accident involving a College vehicle that occurred on March 3, 2013. The vehicle sustained damage to the driver’s side rear. There were no injuries.

Fire Alarm

Date: Tuesday, April 22
Time: 2:54 p.m.
Location: Willets Residence Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a smoke detector alarm within Willets Residence Hall. Upon arrival, it was determined that the smoke detector was activated due to dust. There was no sign of smoke or fire. The building was evacuated and approximately 50 individuals were outside the building.

Panic Button Alert

Date: Tuesday, April 22
Time: 3:03 p.m.
Location: Parrish Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a panic alarm within Parrish Hall. Upon arrival, it was determined that a staff member accidentally activated the alarm.

Synopsis: Public Safety received the report of a theft of a chair from within Underhill LIbrary. The value of the chair is $659. The matter is under investigation.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Essie Mae’s Snack Bar within Clothier Hall for the report of an injured staff member. The staff member declined medical treatment. A Workplace Injury Report was completed.

Location: Wharton Residence Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Wharton Courtyard for a noise complaint. Upon arrival, the area was checked with negative results.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Worth Health Center to transport a Swarthmore resident student to the hospital.

Synopsis: Public Safety, Swarthmore Police and Springfield Ambulance responded to David Kemp Residence Hall for the report of a student in need of medical attention. The student was transported to the hospital.

Forcible Rape

Date: Wednesday, April 23
Time: 1:19 p.m.
Location: College Avenue
Synopsis: On 4/22/14 Public Safety received an anonymous online Clery report of a known male Swarthmore student for alleged forcible rapes on campus. No information as to the identity of any victims or the specific date or specific locations of the alleged incidents were provided.

Fire Alarm

Date: Wednesday, April 23
Time: 6:33 p.m.
Location: Mertz Residence Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a fire alarm within Mertz Residence Hall. Upon arrival, there was excessive smoke due to lack of proper ventilation. There was no sign of a fire. It was determined that the alarm was activated due to cooking. The building was evacuated and approximately 30 students were outside the building.

Synopsis: Public Safety received a report of suspicious illegal activity involving illegal substances in Parrish Hall. The matter was investigated by Public Safety and has been cleared.

Location: McCabe Library
Synopsis: Public Safety received a report from a resident Swarthmore student about the theft of their bike from the rack at McCabe Library. Public Safety found the bike and returned it to the student.

Location: Wharton Residence Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a noise complaint behind Wharton. Upon arrival, the area was searched with negative results.

Synopsis: Public Safety received a report of a theft from within Parrish Hall of a Galaxy Tablet that belonged to a Swarthmore staff member. The value of the tablet is $200. The matter is under investigation.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Mullan Fitness Center for the report of a theft of a set of dumbbells. Upon further investigation, the dumbbells were located. It was determined that they had not been put back in the proper place.

Synopsis: Public Safety received a report that someone vandalized the fencing team banner. The matter is under investigation.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to DuPont Science Center to transport a student to Worth Health Center. The student had sustained an injury while participating in the LARP (Live Action Role Playing) event. Transport completed without incident.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Mertz Residence Hall for the report of an unknown odor. Upon arrival, it was determined that a fire extinguisher had been discharged. EVS was notified and responded to clean up the area.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to David Kemp Residence Hall for the report of an intoxicated resident student. The student was transported to Worth Health Center for further evaluation and treatment.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Sharples Dining Hall for the report of a Swarthmore resident student that had been assaulted by a guest who was not affiliated with the College. The Swarthmore student declined medical treatment.

Synopsis: Public Safety received information about vandalism that occurred at an off-campus location. Information relayed to Swarthmore Police Department.

Eduard is a film and media studies major from Tbilisi, Georgia. He abandoned The Daily Gazette during sophomore year to focus on his career in club fencing. Big mistake.
