Suspicious Odor

Date: Monday, February 3
Time: 9:30-9:39 a.m.
Location: Science Center
Synopsis: Faculty reported a strong odor of exhaust in the area of the Math department at the Science Center. Officers and Facilities responded to find the odor caused by a nearby snow blower. Doors were open to clear out the fumes.
Status: Cleared

Location: Sharples Dining Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to Sharples Dining Hall for the report of a staff member who was injured. A Worker’s Injury Report was filed.

Harassment/Stalking by Communication

Date: Saturday, January 25 to Sunday, January 26 (Reported Monday, February 3)

Synopsis: Interim Title IX Coordinator contacted Public Safety via email to report that a female resident student reported being harassed by a male resident student on 1/25/14-1/26/14. Matter is under investigation.

Location: Tunnel Area
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a student who fell at the Tunnel Area. The student was transported to Worth Health Center for further evaluation and treatment.

Time: 8:06-8:15 p.m.
Location: DuPont Lot
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to the report of an unattended vehicle with its door open within the DuPont Lot. The door was secured and the owner of the vehicle contacted.

Time: 6:39-7:15 a.m.
Location: Mullan Fitness Center
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a fire alarm within the Mullan Center. The building was checked for fire and smoke with negative results. Alarm was reset and Facilities was notified.
Status: Cleared

Date: Wednesday, February 5
Time: 6:56-7:14 a.m.
Location: Ware Pool
Synopsis: Public Safety and Swarthmore Ambulance responded to Ware Pool for the report of an injured staff member. The staff member was transported to the hospital. A Workplace Injury Report was filed.
Status: Cleared

 

Fire Alarm

Date: Wednesday, February 5
Time: 9:54-10:06 a.m.
Location: Palmer Residence Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety and Facilities responded to Palmer Residence Hall for a fire alarm. Upon arrival it was determined that the alarm was activated due to steam from a nearby bathroom. The alarm was reset.

Location: Cornell Science Library
Synopsis: Public Safety and Facilities responded to Cornell Science Center for the report of a burning smell within the Cornell Library. It was determined to be a piece of equipment that shut down due to the power outage.

Date: Wednesday, February 5
Time: 6:45 p.m.
Location: Off Campus
Synopsis: Public Safety was notified of a robbery at knife point in the 100 block of 100 Rutgers Avenue on January 29th. Suspects were not found or identified. Swarthmore Police are investigating.

Location: Parrish Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a panic button alert. It was determined that the alert was pressed in error by a staff member.

Location: Swarthmore College Campus
Synopsis: Interim Title IX Coordinator reported to Public Safety that a known female resident student reported being sexually assaulted on campus by a resident male student in 2012.

Synopsis: Public Safety, Swarthmore Police and Nether Providence Police responded to Parrish Hall for the report of an intoxicated and uncooperative individual. The individual was arrested.

Synopsis: Public Safety and Swarthmore Rescue responded to Clothier Hall for the report of an injured individual. Upon evaluation, the individual was transported to the hospital.

Location: Hallowell Residence Hall
Synopsis: Public Safety, Swarthmore Police and Ambulance responded to Hallowell Residence Hall for an intoxicated student. Upon evaluation, the student was transported to the hospital. The student will be cited for underage drinking.

Synopsis: Public Safety, Swarthmore Police and Ambulance responded to the report of an injured and intoxicated student within Dana Residence Hall. The student was evaluated and transported to the hospital. The student was cited by Swarthmore Police Department.

Synopsis: Public Safety and Swarthmore Police Department responded to a fire alarm within Wharton Residence Hall. It was determined that burnt popcorn activated the smoke detector. The alarm was reset.

Synopsis: Public Safety responded to a report that an individual was dumping branches behind the grand stands. Upon arrival, a Swarthmore staff member was identified.
