New Records and Milestones : Field Hockey and Soccer

Field Hockey

Anne Rosenblatt ’14 scored her first career goal on Sunday in a 3-1 victory over Mercy (NY). The goal, which also pulled Rosenblatt to 10 career points, tied the match at one before the Garnet pulled away with two second-half goals.

Katie Teleky ’13 scored her 25th career goal on Saturday in a 2-0 blanking of Cabrini.  The goal, Swarthmore’s first of the season, also brought Teleky to 55 career points in her 55th career game.  With 25 career goals, Teleky is ninth in team history.

Men’s Soccer

Devon Baughen 16 scored his first career goal on Sunday to open the Garnet’s account in a 4-1 drubbing of Manhattanville from Clothier Field.

Geli Carabases ’14 earned his first career assist and point on Sunday in Swarthmore’s 4-1 victory over Manhattanville.  Playing in his 14th career game, Carabases sent a perfectly-paced ball to Michael Stewart setting up what proved the game-winning goal.

Peter Maxted ’14 earned his first career victory and shutout on Saturday in the Garnet’s 1-0 overtime victory over Rutgers-Newark.  In only his fourth career appearance, Maxted went just over 95 minutes for the clean-sheet.

Joe Keedy ’14 earned his first career assist and point on Saturday in the Garnet’s 1-0 overtime victory over Rutgers-Newark.  Appearing in his first collegiate game, Keedy set up Michael Stewart just over five-minutes into overtime to send Swarthmore to a season-opening win.

Michael Stewart ’15 scored his fifth career goal on Saturday in the Garnet’s 1-0 overtime victory over Rutgers-Newark.  Stewart took a pass from Joe Keedy and finished far-post for the winner.  The sophomore also scored the game-winner on Sunday against Manhattanville.

Jake Tracy ’13 earned his first career victory on Sunday in a 4-1 victory over Manhattanville.  Tracy was forced to make three saves against the Valiants in his seventh career appearance as the Garnet improved to 2-0 on the young season.

Women’s Soccer

Tazmin Bailiff-Curtis ’16   earned her first career assist and point on Sunday in a 1-0 victory over Wellesley.  The freshman’s corner found the head of classmate Amanda Bosworth midway through the second half on a rainy afternoon from Clothier Field.

Amanda Boswroth ’16 scored her first career goal on Sunday as the Garnet defeated Wellesley 1-0.  In her first career appearance, Bosworth broke loose at the top of the six-yard box to confidently head home the game winner as Swarthmore improved to 1-1 on the year.

Reba Magier ’16 earned her first career victory and shutout in Swarthmore’s 1-0 victory over Wellesley on Sunday.  Magier made three saves in the win and was confident and sure-handed despite steady rainfall.
