2007: A Year in Pictures

  1. Many of these photos were incredible. It’s just sad that there are no pictures of athletic events. Depicted several times are students working hard on developing their acting skills and musical abilities, yet those who pour their hearts and souls into sports are given no recognition. Surely somewhere in 2007, someone deserved to be honored within this realm. There are several other areas which I also feel deserved some coverage and did not receive it, but this is the one closest to me. Please try to take into account everyone on campus if you are going to call this piece “2007: A Year in Pictures”. Perhaps a more fitting title might be “2007: Random Shots”. Then again, Swarthmore’s affinity for its athletic programs have been virtually non-existent anyway, so perhaps not having them in this piece is only fitting.

  2. These photographs are all taken from the past semester’s photographs of the day. They reflect photographs submitted to the Gazette, and taken by the small number of Gazette photographers.

Unfortunately, despite appeals to Swarthmore’s athletic community, we have been unable to recruit a single sports writer, let alone a sports photographer. We would love to cover Swarthmore’s athletic program with more than summaries. We just don’t have the staff to do so.

Still, we have always solicited pictures for the Picture-of-the-Day slot. If you have photographs from Swarthmore’s athletics program, please send them to our Photography Editor (Carolyn Whipple, cwhippl1)
