What She’s Done: Last week, Wong, Swarthmore’s number two singles player, dominated her competition, going 3-0 while only dropping five games. She began her week with a 6-0, 6-1 win against Ursinus and carried her stellar play into her weekend matchup against Franklin & Marshall. Wong and Maria Cuervo ’18 won their doubles match 8-4. Wong then put together another dazzling singles performance, winning 6-1, 6-0.

Favorite Career Moment: “If I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be beating Haverford’s number 1, Caitlyn Gallagher, in singles last year 0-6, 6-4, 10-8. After losing the first set 6-0, I was upset and a little stunned at how quickly the set had slipped by, but I forced myself to calm down and refocus, and I managed to pull out the second set 6-4. The [super] tiebreaker was incredibly tense, and all I knew was that I was going to win the match, no matter what I had to do.”

Pre-Match Food or Routine: “Honestly, the best thing I can do before a match is take a quick nap. My ideal situation would be waking up and heading straight to the courts to warm up and play. I do best when I’m relaxed, and I can definitely psych myself out before a match if I have too much time to think about the situation or my opponent. If I take a nap, I wake up relaxed and I don’t have time to think or over-analyze. I just go for it.”

Favorite TV Show: “It really depends on my mood, but I would have to say either Gilmore Girls or White Collar. Also Bob’s Burgers is hilarious.”
