Eric Verhasselt

January 31, 2013

Athlete of the Week: Eric Verhasselt
Sr., Track, Rochelle Park, N.J.

What He’s Done: Scored 2,067 points at the Ursinus Pentathlon, good for a top-10 finish at the meet.

Favorite Career Moment: After never doing 8 of the 10 events in the decathlon before coming to college, becoming Swarthmore’s #2 all time scorer as well as taking the record for the pentathlon and heptathlon.

Season Goals: To improve on my overall performance in the Decathlon and qualify in the conference in pole vault so I have the opportunity to score more points for the team in the conference championship.

Favorite Decathlon Event:  My favorite event in the Decathlon would be the javelin, but I enjoy doing the 1500m as well because relatively I do the best in that event.
