Bike Share Program

In light of two incidents during the week – like one student locking his bike near Trotter instead of Parrish – Student Council discussed possible ways to “make students more accountable for guidelines.”

StuCo will meet with Jeff Cao ’10, the Community Outreach Liaison for Chester Neighborhood Bike Works, who overlooks maintenance of the bikes, and the McCabe librarians, to formulate an actual policy that can be integrated into the Bike Share contract.

Maria Thomson ’14, StuCo Secretary, mooted the idea of alternating two sets of bikes every week. During any particular week, one set of bikes will be available for use whilst the other set will be stored to check for any repairs or possible mishaps.

StuCo members also suggested introducing a fine for those found in breach of the Bike Share guidelines.

Bagged Lunch

StuCo has designed a survey to gauge student opinion on bagged lunches and the questions have been sent to Linda McDougall, Dining Services Director, for approval.

The yet-to-be approved questions are concerned with, amongst other things, similarities between the Tuesday and Thursday meals and the replenishment of the current meal options.

StuCo plans to conduct the survey Wednesday and Thursday this week. There will be candy for all respondents.

Long Term Goals

Moving forward, StuCo will have four subcommittees working on these long-term goals:

  • Academic Support
  • Ville Meal-Points
  • Laptop Sharing Program
  • Budget Transparency

Co-op

Ben Wolcott ’14 has asked for a StuCo member to attend his meeting on Wednesday with Maurice Eldridge ’61, Vice President for College and Community Relations, concerning possible implementation of a co-op on campus. Wolcott has asked for StuCo representation as a visible sign of support.

StuCo Reminder

This Monday evening at 7:30 pm in the Scheuer Room, all students are invited for a say in the Strategic Planning process through a discussion on Admissions, Access and Affordability.
