WOMEN’S SOCCER: Garnet Tame Cougars in ECAC Southern Quarterfinals

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore women’s soccer team tied its best offensive out-put of the season, rolling past visiting Misericorida 4-0 in quarterfinal action of the 2007 ECAC Division III Southern Region Championship on a chilly Wednesday night at Clothier Field. Megan Colombo ’11 scored twice while Monica Cody ’10 tallied her first career goal and Hannah Purkey ’11 added the other score.

The Garnet improved to 13-2-2 overall and advance on to semifinal action in Grove City, Pa. on Nov. 10-11. Swarthmore, the third-seed, will play No. 2 seed Frostburg State (a 1-0 winner over Carnegie Mellon) at 2:00 p.m. on the campus of Grove City College this Saturday, Nov. 10. The other semifinal will feature top-seed Grove City (a 3-2 victor over Juniata) versus No. 5 Catholic, who upset No. 4 Widener 3-2.

MEN’S SOCCER: Langley Kicks Garnet Into ECAC Semifinals

SWARTHMORE, Pa. -Swarthmore used goals from Dylan Langley ’10 and Ladule Lako Lo Sarah ’09 to advance past visiting Cabrini 2-0 in quarterfinal action of the 2007 ECAC Southern Region men’s soccer championship at brisk Clothier Field Wednesday night.

The Garnet, the top seed, improve to 12-3-3 overall and will host semifinal and final action this weekend. Swarthmore faces Westminster (11-6-3) on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1:00 p.m .in one semi-final while Frostburg State (11-8-1) squares off against Penn State-Altoona (16-5) at 3:30 p.m.
