The New Face of Underhill Music Library

September 18, 2007

Editor’s note: This article was initially published in The Daily Gazette, Swarthmore’s online, daily newspaper founded in Fall 1996. As of Fall 2018, the DG has merged with The Phoenix. See the about page to read more about the DG.

Over the summer, Underhill Music Library underwent some renovations, including new furniture and carpets, and alterations to the circulation desk.
Gone are the bright purple couches, replaced by rust color armchairs.
The upper level's computer carrels have also been removed, replaced by more armchairs and several round tables.

  1. Carolyn—I like the photographs! The high contrast works nicely. That said, I’d tone down the color saturation a bit. The color almost seems too heavy.

  2. But are the new chairs comfortable???

As a former member of the design committee I disavow any responsibility for the color combination of the carpet and the chairs. I thought the chairs were going to be gray.
