Editor’s note

Editor’s note: This article was initially published in The Daily Gazette, Swarthmore’s online, daily newspaper founded in Fall 1996. As of Fall 2018, the DG has merged with The Phoenix. See the about page to read more about the DG.

With today’s issue the Gazette marks a new period in its development as we begin regular use of html in our emails. We hope this will improve the Gazette’s functionality and appearance for you, our readers. In order to get the most out of the new Gazette, we recommend that you read the Gazette in a html-ready mail client such as Mozilla Thunderbird, available for free online. In addition to the technical changes, we’ve also adjusted our content. Starting today, living and arts articles will appear independently in a new section of the Gazette. The world news roundup will feature one longer story with greater detail as well as the usual short blurbs. In the coming weeks, we will also be introducing a new archiving system on our website that will provide enhanced capabilities when searching for previously published stories. As we implement these changes, we encourage you to let us know what you think about them and, especially, if you have any technical problems viewing or reading your Gazette.
