Anniversary of oil spill should be a time for activism
Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the British Petroleum oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The Deepwater Horizon explosion killed 11 men and dumped approximately 4,900,000 barrels of crude oil into the Gulf waters.
Throughout the summer months in 2010, live coverage of the oil spill dominated every news outlet. CNN and the Huffington Post offered the oil spill’s live camera, which showed the millions of gallons of oil gushing into the ocean.
