Letter from the Editor

In print | April 16, 2009

Last week’s article in the sport’s section on the men’s lacrosse victory against McDaniel [“Musynske powers lacrosse past Green Terror,” The Phoenix, April 9, 2009] contained several paragraphs that were plagiarized from Kyle Leach’s coverage of the game for the Swarthmore Athletics News website. On behalf of The Phoenix, I apologize to our readers as well as to Mr. Leach for allowing this to happen. We take a zero-tolerance stance toward plagiarism, and this incident represents a clear breakdown in editorial processes and oversight, as well as a serious breach of journalistic ethics. The Phoenix Editorial Board is taking action to prevent incidents of this nature from occurring in the future.
