Student Council Report

April 18, 2007

Editor’s note: This article was initially published in The Daily Gazette, Swarthmore’s online, daily newspaper founded in Fall 1996. As of Fall 2018, the DG has merged with The Phoenix. See the about page to read more about the DG.

The Council heard an appeal of an SBC decision made for the Men’s Ultimate Frisbee team. Men’s Ultimate was put on “budgetary probation” at the end of last school year for repeatedly overspending. This probation included the rule that every receipt had to be submitted within two weeks, and miscommunication within the team led to the submission of a late receipt. SBC decided not to accept the receipt, which would have forced the team to shoulder the costs themselves. Student Council overturned SBC’s decision and accepted the receipt.

Council discussed elections and decided to publicize the names of people who are running for elections on the new Student Council website. As a reminder, platforms will be due on April 23rd, a Presidential discussion will be held on April 24th or 25th, online voting will start April 26th and Sharples voting will be held on April 30th and May 1st.
