WEATHER FORECAST

Today: Cloudy, with rain. Highs around 45.
Ok, I’m gonna try really hard not to be cynical about this whole
Valentine’s Day thing…

Tonight: Cloudy. Lows in the 30s.
I know there’s lots of people out there who are overjoyed that a day’s
been created for them to go out of their way to profess their undying love
for their significant other, so the last thing I’d want to do is ruin that
in any way…

Tomorrow: Sunnier. Highs in the 40s.
Just watch out – no PDA’s! I’ll be at the top of the bell tower,
slingshot in hand…

NEWS REPORT

1) World news roundup

Controversy surrounds the upcoming Republican primary in South Carolina, as
George W. Bush and John McCain are using telephone questioning of
prospective voters in very different ways. McCain’s group has been asking
general questions regarding voters’ stances on conservative/liberal issues,
and whether or not they support Republican ideals. On the other hand,
Bush’s group has asked citizens pointed questions centered around McCain
himself, calling on voters to make judgements based on information
presented about McCain. McCain has complained that Bush is using telephone
polls as political propoganda, trying to sway voters’ opinions instead of
gaining survey information; Bush has denied such claims. …Microsoft
Windows 2000 will be officially released on Monday, although a cloud of
doubt hangs over the company as experts wonder as to the public reaction.
Many companies have already said that they will not upgrade, citing reasons
ranging from a general mistrust of the company, to a lack of desire to
learn an entire new operating system so soon after finally mastering
Windows 98. …Charles M. Schultz, creator of the “Peanuts” comic strip,
