WEATHER FORECAST

Today: Mostly sunny.  Highs in the mid 50’s.
I wonder how many people forgot to set their clocks ahead…

Tonight: Clear.  Lows around 40.
I guess we’ll see if anyone comes to class an hour late.

Tomorrow: Sunny again!  High of 60.
I’d laugh if someone sets it back instead of forward and goes to
the wrong classes all day. Yeah, that would make my day.

NEWS REPORT

SORRY FOLKS, IT’S NOT LOOKING TOO GOOD THESE DAYS…

As the 13th day of Operation Allied Force began, it was reported that NATO
cruise missles have indeed struck the Yugoslav air force headquarters,
reportedly in the form of four quick-succession blasts. Meanwhile, the
United Nations have predicted that before long the number of Kosovan
refugees might possibly reach one million, a figure that might be beyond
the power of NATO relief efforts. …In other news, Johnny Chung, a former
fund-raiser for the Democratic Party, has told federal investigators that
he was used by the chief of Chinese military intelligence to funnel
$300,000 to benefit Clinton’s 1996 campaign. …

after a Red Devils scoring streak in the second half. Katie Tarr ’02

4) Track and field places well

Swarthmore hosted the Three- and Four-Way Challenges on Saturday, and both

three (after Salisbury State, ahead of Allentown). Mason Tootell ’99 won
the 400 meter hurdles and the javelin; Marc Jeuland ’01 captured the 1500
and 5000 meter races. Also winning at the meet were Gordon Roble ’99 with
the 800 as well as the 4×400 relay team. The women were second of four
teams, again finishing after Salisbury State but beating out both Allentown
and Loyola. Annie Kittler ’01 was victorious in the 800 meters; Stephanie
Herring ’99 won the 400 meter hurdles, and Raylene Ross ’00 picked up the
victory in the long jump.

6) Men’s rugby still undefeated

Men’s rugby improved to 5-0 with a 36-13 win against Lafayette on Saturday.
For the second straight week Swarthmore dominated in the second half a game
which was close at the half. The Garnet led only 12-6 at the break before
scoring four second-half tries to clinch the victory. Mike Sheer ’99 and
Tony Sturm ’99 scored two tries apiece, while Jerome Bushnell ’99 and
Kelley Hauser ’99 also added tries.

7) Women’s rugby tramples F&M

Even with shorter-than-usual halves and both captains injured in the
women’s rugby game on Saturday, the Garnet ruggers were able to bring down
Franklin and Marshall by the overwhelming score of 30-0. The B-side game,
with one-third the playing time, won proportionately by 10-0.

QUIERO JUGAR BEISBOL…O EL GOLF…O EL BASQUETBOL…

Tony Gwynn singled in the first inning to bring him to within 71 hits of
3,000 for his career. …David Duval became only the third golfer in
history to have four tournament wins coming into the Masters with a two
shot win at the BellSouth Classic Sunday.  He enters Augusta Thursday as
the No. 1 golfer in the world seeking his first major. …Despite 19
