Tonight:  Mostly clear.  Low around freezing.

6) World sports roundup

FINAL FOUR SET

Duke vs. Michigan State, Connecticut vs. Ohio State.  It all comes down to
those two matchups next weekend as the sea of 64 has withered down to the Final
Four.  No. 1 Connecticut finally put an end to Gonzaga’s cinderella story with
a 67-62 win Saturday, earning its first ever trip to the Final Four.  Later
that night Ohio State, the only non-top seed in the Final Four, beat St. Johns
77-74 to win the South Regional, its first title since 1968.  Duke continued
its roll through the tournament Sunday with an 85-64 trouncing of Temple to
earn its first Final Four berth in five years.  Even more impressive, Michigan
State beat defending national champion Kentucky 73-66 to earn a spot in the
last quartet for the first time since Magic Johnson wore the Spartan colors in
the late 70’s.

OH YEAH, THERE ARE OTHER SPORTS…

Dennis Rodman is back in Laker gold and purple, returning to the team after an
unexplained eight day layoff for “personal reasons.”  It was a career high 38
points (33 in the second half) for Kobe Bryant, along with 31 points and 13
rebounds from Shaquille O’Neal, that led L.A. to a 114-105 victory over the
Orlando Magic Sunday. …Tim “Lumpy” Herron made a number of clutch par putts
down the stretch to hold off Tom Lehman in a playoff for the Bay Hill
Invitational. …The Philadelphia Flyers finally won, snapping a 12 game
winless skid with a 5-4 win over the Detroit Red Wings.
