WEATHER FORECAST

Today: Mostly sunny and warmer.  High in the mid 40’s.
So, did you have a nice VD weekend?

Tonight: Mostly clear.  Lows near 30.
       That’s nice.

You should really go to Worth to have that looked at.

NEWS REPORT

1) Valentine’s Day formal a big hit for International Club

One may argue that it doesn’t take much for people to have a good time at a
party here at Swarthmore, but on Friday the International Club proved that it
doesn’t hurt to get all dressed up and go to a nicely decorated Upper Tarble.
This year’s Valentine’s Day formal lived up to its hype – couples didn’t seem
to appear to have trouble forming, despite the “guys can’t ask girls”
stipulation.  And most managed to have a good time, the infiltration by
(football) Spec weekend notwithstanding.

With an excellent mix of good music, good food (they even had sushi!) and good
drink, the International Club showed once again that they know how to throw a
party like few groups at Swat can claim.  Club member Christabel Pinto ’02
enthusiastically reported, “we thought the whole formal was a resounding
success.”  The IC looks forward to hosting mroe events such as this in the
future.

BILL WINS, STARR WANTS REVENGE, MORE KOSOVO VIOLENCE…

The impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton is finally over, as he was
acquitted on both counts Friday.  With a 55-45 vote to convict for perjury and
a 50-50 tie for the obstruction of justice charge, the Senate fell well short
of the two-thirds majority necessary for conviction. …The violence in Kosovo
rages on, with a bombing and a land mine resulting in 12 injuries over the
weekend while the peace-seeking powers agreed to extend their talks another
week. …Clinton arrived in Mexico Sunday to discuss pending narcotics trade
problems with Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo. …An overwhelming
majority of
the House of Representatives is urging Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr to
cease his investigation into the President, despite Starr’s wishes to indict
Clinton once more. …American Airlines cancelled another 500 flights Sunday,
but many of their pilots are beginning to heed the call to go back to work and
end their “sickout.”
