Men’s Track and Field:

Swarthmore men’s indoor track and field competed at the Fastrack National Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY, on Friday. All of the Garnet’s top distance runners earned personal records.

Notable Runners: Aiden Tomov ’24 finished eighth overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.30, defeating all Division III competitors and several Division I competitors. Sam Brody ’24 placed eighteenth overall in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:14.54, beating his previous indoor personal best by fourteen seconds.

Women’s Track and Field:

Sophie Goodwin ’27 represented Swarthmore women’s track and field at the Fastrack National Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY, on Friday afternoon. The first-year student finished 31st overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.02, one whole minute better than her previous best.

Women’s Swimming:

Swarthmore women’s swimming had their final home meet of the season on Saturday afternoon. Six Garnet swimmers combined for twelve lifetime bests, and nine Garnet swimmers clocked 22 season-best times.

Notable Swimmers: The program celebrated seniors Vivian Guo ’24, Cara Lee ’24, and Laura Strachan ’24 for their contributions over the past four years, as they swam in the last meet of their collegiate careers. Sophia Ulvestad ’27 finished first in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 59.58, while Mirabel Fernald ’27 placed second with a lifetime best time of 59.73. Fernald won the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:08.97, moving into eighth all-time in program history. Ulvestad finished second in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:09.89, tenth all-time in program history.

Men’s Swimming:

Swarthmore men’s swimming had their last home meet of the season on Saturday. Eleven Garnet swimmers combined for 28 lifetime best performances, and eight swimmers clocked eighteen season-best times.

Notable Swimmers: The program celebrated Hayden Brown ’24 in his final meet of his collegiate career. Luke Magnuson ’26 won the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 1:43.48, while Andrew Hendrickson ’27 finished in second with a time of 1:44.02 and Mateo Smith ’27 finished third with a time of 1:44.83. All three swimmers recorded lifetime bests in the event. 

Men’s Basketball:

Swarthmore College: 75, Franklin and Marshall College: 50

Swarthmore men’s basketball faced Franklin and Marshall College in front of a home crowd on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet ended the half with a comfortable 40-21 lead, after going on a massive 26-5 run spanning ten minutes of action. The Garnet added 35 points in the second half to solidify the win. The victory marks the Garnet’s fourth-straight win and seventh in the last eight games. 

Notable Players: The program honored seniors Michael Caprise ’24 and Vinny DeAngelo ’24 for their contributions over the past four years. DeAngelo tallied a game-high 23 points. Caprise recorded a double-double with fifteen points and eleven rebounds.

Swarthmore College: 93, Haverford College: 49

Swarthmore men’s basketball dominated Haverford College on Wednesday night to cap off regular-season home play. In the first half, the Garnet held the Fords to just thirteen points while recording a remarkable 52 points. Swarthmore added 41 points in the second half.

Notable Players: Cal Hanson ’26 led the Garnet with eighteen points, while DeAngelo and Eddie Paquette ’26 each added eleven.

Women’s Basketball:

Swarthmore College: 61, Franklin and Marshall College: 39

Swarthmore women’s basketball defeated Franklin and Marshall College at Tarble Pavilion on Saturday afternoon. The Garnet took the lead early, ending the first quarter 16-4. The Garnet ended the half comfortably, 30-21. After holding the Diplomats to nine points each in the third and fourth quarters, Swarthmore won the game by more than twenty points.

Notable Players: Swarthmore honored seniors Emily Smith ’24 and Dana Bandurick ’24 for their contributions over the past four years. Norah Wingfield ’25 led the Garnet offense with a game-high of seventeen points. Bandurick recorded her third double-double of the season with fourteen points and thirteen rebounds.

Swarthmore College: 64, Haverford College: 38

Swarthmore women’s basketball faced Haverford College on Wednesday night at Tarble Pavilion for their final regular-season home game. The Garnet came out strong, ending the first quarter, 21-7. Swarthmore added fifteen points in the second quarter to end the half, 36-15. The Garnet defeated the Fords by almost thirty points to clinch a postseason berth. 

Notable Players: Bandurick led the Garnet offense with seventeen points. Wingfield added fourteen.
