Field Hockey

Swarthmore: 4, Gettysburg: 1

This past Saturday, the Swarthmore women’s field hockey team faced Gettysburg College at Clothier Field. Finishing with a score of 4-1, the Garnet scored two goals in the second quarter following Gettysburg’s first and only goal. Swarthmore then followed with another two goals in the third quarter. The Garnet will face McDaniel College in Westminster, MD, this coming Saturday, October 9.

Notable Players: Katherine Kohn ’25 scored the Garnet’s first goal, followed by a goal by Brooke Findlay ’24. In the third quarter, Chelsea Semper ’22 scored a goal on a penalty stroke. 

Men’s Tennis

This past weekend, the men’s tennis team traveled to Fredericksburg, VA, to compete in the  Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament. The Garnet had a doubles pair progress to the quarterfinals and another pair advance to the Round of sixteen. The Garnet also had a singles player progress to the semifinals of the Championship Singles bracket. 

Notable Players: Kevin Jiang ’25 was seeded ninth overall and advanced to the semifinals of the Championship Singles bracket. Rushil Patel ’24 and Charlie Force ’23 competed in the quarterfinals. 

Women’s Soccer

On Saturday, Swarthmore’s women’s soccer team fell to McDaniel College, seeded at No. 10. Scoring the first goal of the game in the first fourteen minutes, the Garnet started strong. However, McDaniel scored two goals in the second half. Swarthmore will next face Muhlenberg College at Clothier Field this coming Saturday, October 9. 

Notable Players: Veronica Gibbons ’23 scored the first goal of the game, assisted by Ally Scheve ’22. Charlotte Pohl ’22 and Nicte Machado-Aco ’23 each had one shot. 

Volleyball

Swarthmore: 3, Gettysburg: 1

Swarthmore volleyball defeated Gettysburg College at home this past Saturday. After losing the first set 21-25, the Garnet roared back, winning the subsequent three sets. The Garnet’s record is now 6-5. Swarthmore volleyball will next face McDaniel College in Westminster, MD, this Saturday, October 9. 

Notable Players: Trisha Razdan ’25 had fourteen kills and Kaylee Zhang ’24 had twelve. Dani Pena ’24 served four aces. 

Men’s Soccer

Swarthmore: 1, McDaniel: 0

This past Saturday at Clothier Field, Swarthmore men’s soccer won against McDaniel College. Scoring five minutes into the game, the Garnet held a lead against McDaniel for the rest of the game. Swarthmore men’s soccer will next face Muhlenberg College at Clothier Field this Saturday, October 9. 

Notable Players: Stathis Kalathias ’24 scored the Garnet’s sole goal five minutes into the game. Bless Tumushabe ’23 took three shots and Charley Ward ’22 took two shots.
