Mayer Hawthorne and St. Vincent will be playing in LPAC this Saturday as this year’s Large Scale Event. Although normally held in the fall, the event was pushed back due to efforts to book Janelle Monae, which ultimately ended up not working out.

St. Vincent’s Annie Clark is an American multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter who is a former member of the Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Stevens’s touring band. Her solo debut Marry Me received critical attention and praise for its arrangements and songwriting. In the video below, she plays a live version of the track Actor Out of Work, from her second album.

Mayer Hawthorne̢۪s childhood growing up just outside of Detroit introduced him to the rich soul and jazz that have come to influence his music. With a voice that has caught the attention of producers to radio hosts, Mayer Hawthorne has revived Motown. The video below is an introduction to Hawthorne from The Guardian.
