The field hockey team opened 2009 Centennial Conference play in style last Thursday by defeating Tri-Co rival Bryn Mawr (0-5, 0-2 CC) by a score of 7-1. Four players combined for the seven goals against the Owls. High spirits were short-lived however, as the Garnet went on to drop two contests against non-conference opponents in the following few days.

Catie Meador scored a goal – her second of the season – in last Thursday's 7-1 rout of Bryn Mawr.

Swarthmore (2-3, 1-0 CC) fell to Eastern (3-3) on Saturday. Standout Katie Teleky ’13 scored the lone goal for Swarthmore. Gina Grubb ’10 made 13 saves in a busy outing for the Garnet defense.

On Tuesday, the Garnet held Elizabethtown scoreless through the first half, but met a quick demise in the second period as the visiting Blue Jays scored three goals in under fifteen minutes. Katie Ashmore ’11 made nine saves in goal for the Garnet.

The Garnet will look to regain momentum on Saturday when they travel to nearby Immaculata for a 12 p.m. game.
