STAFF EDITORIAL
I hope you will allow me to use this forum to say good-bye. After more than a decade on campus, the administration and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry have decided not to renew my contract. I will not return in the fall. I know that there are current students and alums who will be pleased with this decision, but I also know that there are those of you who will miss me. I will miss all of you. It has always been my primary goal to educate (one I hope I have been successful at), but, in return, I must say that I have also learned an enormous amount on a wide variety of subjects from all of you. My greatest regret is not having been able to participate more in campus life, to have attended the games, concerts and shows to which you have been kind enough to invite me. The needs of my own children and a 45-minute commute, not lack of desire or interest, were the obstacles that kept me away. As I leave, it is my hope and also my belief that Swarthmore and the department are in some small way better for my 12 years of service.
Good-bye and good luck to all.
